Velours by Yves Saint Laurent is a Oriental fragrance for women and men. Velours was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Carlos Benaïm. Top notes are Black Tea, Pink Pepper and Black Pepper; middle notes are Orris Root, Olibanum and Jasmine; base notes are Vanilla, Amberwood and Musk. The collection of luxury perfumes from Yves Saint Laurent inspired by the iconic pieces of fashion of the house, Le Vestiaire des Parfums, was presented in the fall of 2015, with five editions. The new sub-collection Le Vestiaire des Parfums Collection de Nuit comes out in September 2016 with three new fragrances: Cuir, Velours and Vinyle. These three new unisex perfumes are said to be audacious, elegant and sensual aromas of rock 'n' roll signature. The selected materials of leather, vinyl and velvet evoke the night and the fashion of Parisian night life. Velours is signed by Carlos Benaim. This scent of elegance and "intense caress" is announced as a deep and dark woody ambery frame, softened by the sweetness and lushness of vanilla. Black tea, black pepper and pink pepper in the top lead to the heart of jasmine, orris root and olibanum. The base ends with vanilla, amber wood and musk. I didn't get a chance to try this fragrance before it was discontinued, but maybe is more people reached out to the YSL head-office they might bring it back. Has anyone tried to reach out to them? This fragrance was too good for this world, and we did not deserve it. That's why it has been discontinued. And to add insult to injury, YSL felt the need to make another, completely different fragrance (nice, but not spectacular) with the same name, as if to mock us. Yes, oh yes, helium balloons, complete with subtle rubber are definitely there. Sharp black tea in the opening, a magnificent bitter orris and cold, distant, non-edible vanilla. To me this smell is out of this world, heavenly, indescribable. I have not fallen this hard for a perfume since Iris Pallida. A precious partial was immediately found and acquired.
