Guidance by Amouage is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women and men. Guidance was launched in 2023. The nose behind this fragrance is Quentin Bisch. Top notes are Pear, Hazelnut and Olibanum; middle notes are Osmanthus, Rose, Saffron and Jasmine Sambac; base notes are Sandalwood, Vanilla, Akigalawood, Ambergris and Labdanum. An ivory tower wreathed in shreds of clouds, dewy mists of fragile Pear, inviting Almond Milk and beads of Frankincense draw the outlines of a dreamful haven. A princess whispers you in and leads the way to a lush garden where Osmanthus blossoms diffuse their heady apricot scent. A fountain gleams in the centre, its marble edge covered in scarlet roses whose voluptuous scent meets that of leathery Saffron threads laid on the floor. This fragrance put Amouage on the map for me. Since this was my first love, and I do mean love, I have sampled most of what the house has put out through the years prior to Guidance and the newer releases. I enjoy more of Mr. Chong’s men’s fragrances, not as many for the women’s line. I relish the entire experience of this fragrance from the initial nutty pear, to the floral mid, but the dry down… is a dream! On my skin it is a creamy woody sandalwood frankincense and is absolute comfort. My husband says it is his favorite fragrance for me to wear. I know that I am in the minority when I say that I like it much better than the 46. You rob yourself of the most magical dry down I have ever experienced. If you are in it for the top notes only, 46 is for you, but if you want to enjoy the scenic ride the OG is in your view. For the question of it being a heavy rose or rose water scent, I would say no. That would be more Crimson Rocks or the Rose Incense. Rose is there, but it’s a supporting role. Hey guys, I have a few questions, and the more opinions I can get, the better.
