I totally agree with the review below. All the big houses made a mockery of the old original classics and absolutely destroyed them, leaving us with not even a hint of what they used to be. I do believe that all those new flankers are useless, generic and just bad, though I have to admit the only one I really really liked and it was gorgeous is Belle D’Opium. Of course they discontinued it! Why not? Let’s keep all those 20 awful Black Opium and get rid of the only good one. Anyway back to Opium Poesie de Chine….this is such a gorgeous fragrance, very wearable during day time, and the citrus, amber and vanilla combo is just perfect. It reminds me of Tom Ford’s Shanghai Lily (also discontinued) also Hermes L’ambre des Merveilles (due to patchouli vanilla amber notes). I think if you lucky enough TK Maxx might have a random bottle in stock, I’ve seen once and really wish I bought it. Lovely, Lovely, Lovely! I am a huge fan of Opium, the King of orientals - I own 2 vintage Opium bottles that I cherish and use sparingly, for the rarity of the formulation and the fact it's a perfume I consider for important moments. But I digress. Poésie de Chine is a softer version of the original Opium, only much more wearable; it starts with fresh notes but has all the depth - w/o being overpowering. The drydown is very close to skin and powdery, like Opium. Very sensual but modern at the same time. I like it very much, notable sillage and excellent staying power. I wish it could be still in production, alas now we've got just the new reformulated Opium that is only a faint shadow of the original. And a million useless, shameful flankers that should be banned. The subtle nuances of the original Opium are re-evoked poetically in "Poésie de Chine" as the perfume's name would suggest. The similarities between the original Opium and this flanker are quite accentuated to the point of giving to it the same warm nostalgic sensation of opulent images of oriental golden poetry and autumnal warm colours, le...
