This page is now redundant: With the 51st Amendment from the IFRA last year, I believe we should start doing separate pages for each reformulation? I used my 2023 bottle up last week, the 2025 version just arrived and it is not the same perfume anymore... 1. They also sneakily changed the bottle sprayer depth so that you use more perfume to try and increase its complete lack of longevity! Yes, I measured. 2. The biggest let-down is likely because of the Geraniol now missing - no more sweetness and depth, it also lost that dry honey-like middle notes. Someone can chime in, is it the now-banned Coumarin that I am missing? I wish I knew this was coming. At this rate the EU is going to only allow Ambroxan and Hedione. YSL, how about selling a non-EU version to the rest of us! Should we start a speak-easy perfume shop underground :) Fragrantica, please allow for a Year version in the title pages. The info on this page is not relevant anymore After smelling Kouros in the early days of my journey, i’ve tested it again recently and felt it fair to delete my old and simple review and give it more thought. What prompted me to pull out the sample is that Kouros popped up recently for under 50 dollars. Kouros was the first perfume i’ve managed to put my nose on that is considered to be more challenging. To be honest, i acquired the sample not knowing exactly how it will be challenging but i expected a “just-for-fun” or a “gag reel” type of experience. I sprayed it about twice, got my parents to smell it in a prank-like manner then put the sample away and it was gathering dust for years now. Surprisingly, my father kinda liked it back then. I recall clearly sensing the civet but it wasn’t out of balance with the soapy-green, musky, fougere elements. It felt to me like a barbershop type of oldschool masculine perfume with a strong animalic component. Im not sure if my nose changed or got recalibrated somehow. Perhaps the juice changed in the old sample but testing it now, to my nose the civet almost eclipses all the other facets of the perfume. It might also be the case that recently i’ve tested Rien Intense Incense, another creation where the civet is the main player and my nose got better attuned...
