Storing Fragrance: Make Your Scents Last Longer

Fragrance is a chemistry set in a bottle, and like any chemistry it degrades when exposed to the wrong conditions. Good storage can add years to a bottle’s life — and protect its resale value.

Keep it cool and dark

Heat and UV light break down aromatic molecules and shift a fragrance’s colour and character. A drawer, a closet, or the original box — anywhere away from windows and radiators — beats a sunny bathroom shelf every time.

Limit air exposure

Every spray lets a little air into the bottle, and oxygen slowly oxidises the juice. There is nothing to do about normal use, but avoid decanting into larger containers with lots of headroom, which accelerates the process.

Store upright, keep the box
