Hermessence Vetiver Tonka by Hermès is a Woody Chypre fragrance for women and men. Hermessence Vetiver Tonka was launched in 2004. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena. Created in 2004 by Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermessence is a collection of unique fragrances conceived as olfactory poems using perfuming’s most exclusive elements. As sober and intense as Japanese haiku, they reinvent a nature that is as precious as it is unusual, as if rendered by the inspired writing of a composer in search of the new. Enriched each time the perfumer discovers a new country, a language, a culture or simply extraordinary new ingredients, as of today the line consists of eight fragrances, exclusively available in Hermès stores. I’m stupid for buying Vetiver tonka when I’m not a huge fan of heavy vetiver fragrances … but I had high hopes 😩 as the name says it’s vetiver and tonka , and the vetiver really comes out in the dry down Beautiful, nutty, rich, a little sweet and woody. Very nice and decadent scent. Another holiday season scent for me … The hazelnut truly shines here, love how the vetiver is subtle and the tonka and sweetness stand out more. A wonderful creation. - Bhavna Darira Chesan A beautiful fall-winter scent. Enjoying it a lot. This scent + a rainy morning in a cafe with a cup of hot steaming coffee Glad I’m finally able to sample this because Bal D’Afrique is one of my favorite fragrances ever so I always wanted to try the OG dna. If I were to describe it, this is a dry, earthier version of the DNA compared to Bal D’Afrique being a very airy floral and citrus version. I’ve also tried Contralto which is sweeter than both and has some woodiness to it coming from the chestnut and I’d rank that over the orginal Hermessence. If I’d rank them overall on personal taste so far it’d be 1. Bal D’Afrique 2. Contralto (Extremely close second, might even go into #1 eventually) 3. Vetiver Tonka Time flies and perfumes are like unwritten postcards. Vetiver Tonka is a humid plantation of Vetiver inside a gold metal bowl. A real trip to somewhere in the Asian continent. Vetiver Tonka: I won't forget that. Pros: This is a masterclass on how to use iso e-super in a perfect way. This perfume begins at the heart. When you first spray it, i...
