Rose Amazone by Hermès is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Rose Amazone was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena. Top notes are Black currant leaf, Red Currant, Grapefruit, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Rose, Blackberry, Raspberry and Floral Notes; base notes are Woody Notes, Vanilla and Amber. Hermes launched Amazone fragrance back in 1974 (and re-launched it in 1989). The fragrance was of a free and modern femininity; made as an intense combination of green, floral and woody aromas. At the end of 2014, there comes a new, modern version of this legendary fragrance, named Rose Amazone, launched under the Collection Les Classiques. „A new Amazone who is so much more contemporary, brave and powerful but also extremely feminine. Rose Amazone, a sparkling, tangy and tender perfume, brightened by citrus fruits, currants and raspberries. A perfume full of colours for cheerful fragrancing.“ The in-house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena is credited for this remake. The main ingredients include citruses (bergamot, lemon, orange, mandarin and grapefruit), red currant, leaves and buds of black currant, raspberry and blackberry. I think Hermes has now become my favourite designer fragrance house. I bought this beauty just yesterday and it is stunning. It has this beautifully green leafy herbal kind of tart nature to it in the beginning with beautifully delicate roses peaking through all the tartness. I just can’t get over it. It’s so beautiful! There are berries which are really fruity and juicy, but not in a frivolous or juvenile kind of way, but in a grown polished womanly kind of way. It’s so stunning and I think any woman could make this their signature perfume and they wouldn’t go wrong, you know? I am not a huge fan of the original Caleche that is in the similar bottle. It was just too dated for my taste. I was not quite sure what to expect here but it's a pleasant surprise. I am not a gigantic rose fan, especially the vintage rose. But this is a nice gentle modern take with a lovely hint of spice (which I presume is the woody notes) which balances it out very nicely.
