I have been searching through my collection of perfumes for a summer fragrance today. Because I prefer fall and winter scents unsuitable for hot weather I wasn't having much luck until I came across a bottle of Eau d'Orange Douce purchased a couple of years ago. Aha! Just the thing for a warm summer afternoon. A bowl of orange fruits and their green leaves with an underpinning of a warm, woody base. A relaxed and comfortable cologne for the Fourth of July, which it is today. God bless America! I have a 10 ml decant of this fragrance. The top notes are mainly petigrain with its slight green effect that at the end reminds of flowers and its characteristic metallic touch. After a few minutes, the "juicier" effect goes down and some rough, dry and powdery green tones emerge, with a soft white floral undertone. I know the scent of linden blossom (powerful, creamy sweet and with a bitter herbal counterpoint when it is very concentrated), and I think I can say without making too many mistakes that what I smell now seems to be the combination of neroli with linden blossom, along with some green touches, the soothing effect of petigrain and the velvety dryness of woods. All in all, it is a very particular effect, especially for being called "sweet orange"? I do not find reminiscences neither of the fruit nor of the plant... Neither of sweet orange marmalade... It still smells good and is nice and interesting, an intense greenish-white atalcado like you don't find many times... All that in almost an hour of high. I think that from here on it is going to lower the projection and intensity a bit... Almost two hours after application, it has developed a very interesting spicy note. I will test it again in the next few days and add some extra comments if necessary... Just in case: it is now autumn here, 11 degrees tomorrow. And needless to say that this is only 'a' review... Hopefully it will help anyone who is curious about this fragrance, but let's see if anyone else is encouraged to express their appreciations...
