I totally don't see this as a 'masculine' or 'feminine' fragrance, could totally be rocked by both! Not hard to wear in my opinion, unlike some other Montales (arabians tonka, a lot of their 'oud' fragrances can be quite heavy), but this one is beautiful, sophisticated and fresh! Actually reminds me of a luxurious hotel lobby in Asia. Could definitely be a signature scent and at the moment is one of my fav Montale's. @Fairlind a few reviews below me.. YA GOT A FAKE! I'd purchased Patchouli Leaves from Foreverlux on Wamart's website, the Bottle/Cannister was absolutely perfect, the batch number on the box was legit, buuuuuut a red flag was that there were different batchcodes on the box and the cannister. It also smelled EXACTLY the way you'd described your fragrance, like cheap, watered down laundry Detergent and gone in no-time!! I really hope that you returned your Fake Frag like I did (Got a full refund). Well then I ended up getting a LEGIT Patchouli Leaves from Fragrancenet and the difference in the scent was Night and day! Beast mode! This potion has a plastic note, similar to fresh new tires in the store. Another note - it reminds me of markers. Synthetic alcohol based markers. Great gift idea for someone who loves graffiti & spray paint :) P.s. I actually love mixing Montale with my other perfumes - for instance - this one + Serge Lutens Chergui = magnificent! Edit: After wearing this "potion" for a while, I can honestly say it's one of the strongest & strangest perfumes I have had in my collection. Magnetic, mystical, sharp, plastic, unforgettable, cosmic & cool. This (dark blue version) sits right alongside Mancera’s Intensive Aoud Black and Intensive Aoud Gold so if you have either of those this is too similar to warrant adding to any collection. While this is all a little too sweet and flowery on its opening, its eventual dry down is where it’s true softer and gentler beauty is hidden, but for me, that’s still not worth putting up with the sickly top notes to get there.
